Different Types of Foster Care

General foster care (providing foster care for unrelated children with the idea of helping them transition to a permanent connection); kinship care (providing foster care for a relative child, with the idea of helping them transition to permanence, sometimes by adopting them or taking legal guardianship of them); concurrent foster care (providing foster care for unrelated children with the idea of helping them reunite with their own parent(s), or, if that is not possible, adopting them); and fictive foster care (providing foster care for children who are biologically unrelated, but with whom the ties are as close as if there was a biological bond, with the idea of helping them to transition to a permanent connection.)
